2. a. Today, let's learn another spelling Tip. This rule will help you spell many words you use everyday.

Before you add -ed or -ing to a word ending with a silent e, drop the e before you add the ending.

Spelling Tip
When adding a suffix
beginning with a vowel to
words ending in a silent e,
drop the e before adding
the suffix.

b. Complete the chart. Say the words aloud as you write them.

c. Try writing two sentences using any of the words above.

3. a. To alphabetize a list of words, look at the first letter of each word and put in ABC order.
