Day 2
1. Refer to the front of the reader, A Kit for Kim, and show your student the sounds introduced on that page. Using the Gray Sound/Picture Cards (download PDF file), ask him to locate the cards that match the sounds listed.
2. Tell your student the pronunciation of each sound, using the picture as your guide. For example, say "This is /n/ as in nest."
3. Ask your student to find the Blue Consonant Letter Cards (download PDF file) and the Pink Vowel Letter Cards (download PDF file) that match the Gray Sound/Picture Cards (download PDF file).
4. Arrange the Blue Consonant Letter Cards and the Pink Vowel Letter Cards in this order:

Point to each of the vowels and review what they say. Ask your student to repeat them after you.
5. Blend these words with your student:

Write the words on index cards after your student blends them. Don't forget to code the words 2-11 in the upper right hand corner.
6. Find page 79 in the Student Activity Book (download PDF file), and ask your student to complete it.
Day 3
1. Introduce the Yellow Sight Word Cards (download PDF file) for this lesson: have, of, do. Read them to your student, and have him read them to you. Ask him to find the words in the reader and either highlight them with a yellow marker, underline them with a yellow crayon, or point to them.
2. Take out the Word Wheels* you made, trace over the new consonants that were introduced in this program, and read the words with your student.
