Debbie Strayer received her
bachelor's and master's degrees in education from
Florida State University and is an experienced
public school teacher and mentor of younger
teachers. She is the former editor and co-founder
of Homeschooling TodayTM
magazine, the author of Gaining Confidence to
Teach, one of the co-authors of the
Learning Language Arts through Literature
series and editor of The Homeschool Answer Book
by Dr. Ruth Beechick.
Debbie feels that her most important
accomplishments are that she has been the wife of
Greg Strayer for 25 years, the mother of Nate and
Ashley Strayer and a home schooling parent for 16

was introduced to the work of Dr. Ruth Beechick
in 1989, and as a result, began writing language
arts lessons for her five children. These lessons
eventually grew into the Tan, Green, and Gray
Books of the Learning Language Arts Through
Literature series. Always an avid reader,
Diane has written several Living Literature
articles for Homeschooling Today magazine.
Diane, and her husband, John, live in Melbourne,
Florida, where they have been homeschooling their
